Hull City Council’s Streetscene services have been shortlisted for two awards in the 2021 APSE Performance Network Awards.
Making up part of the Association for Public Service Excellence’s (APSE) Performance Network Programme event, the awards ceremony celebrates the best-performing and most-improved authorities for their achievements.
Streetscene services’ work throughout 2020 and 2021 sees them nominated for two awards in as many categories: ‘best performers’ in parks, open spaces and horticultural services; and ‘most improved’ in street cleansing.
The award winners will be decided on the submission of collective data about the services, and the overall service in comparison with others within the APSE network.
Councillor Rosie Nicola, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, says:
“This is terrific news, and I’m so proud of everyone involved. It’s deserving that our Streetscene services team is being recognised at a national level for everything they’re continuing to achieve, despite all the challenges of the last two years.
“We have history-rich parks in Hull, and the work the Streetscene services do to preserve and develop these important public spaces is wonderful. Our street cleansing services continue to get better and better – which is reflected in the nomination.
“Good luck to all the nominees – it’s fantastic to see the work done by frontline services nationwide to improve local communities is being recognised in this way.”
Hull’s Streetscene services will face national competition from councils such as Conwy County Borough Council, Reading Borough Council and Cambridge City Council. The complete lists of nominees can be found here.
The Performance Network Programme event is taking place in Blackpool from 2-3 December. The Performance Network Awards begin at 9:30pm on 2 December and winners announced thereafter.
