We have all enjoyed the recent unseasonably warm weather, but Paragon Arcade is pushing it to its limits this weekend with a Mexican-inspired street party.
The arcade has been hosting a street food event, After:Hours, on the first Saturday of every month – and this Saturday is set to be the spiciest one yet.
And some businesses in the recently renovated arcade will be staying open late into the night.
Marla’s, the sandwich shop, will be serving Mexican-inspired food and Two Gingers will be substituting coffee beans for mean margaritas.
Marla’s and Two Gingers are not the only Paragon Arcade residents taking part in what has become very much a community event, showcasing the close-knit spirit within the arcade.
Newbies Belle and Benjamin, a baby clothes shop, and hairdressers Milk will both be staying open, as well as 80 Day’s Bier Markt, Silver Springs and White Rabbit, the chocolatier.
The historic arcade has seen an incredible transformation over the past few years after being acquired by Allenby Commercial, which has refurbished the frontage of shops and attracted new businesses.
Georgia Allenby, design manager at Allenby Commercial, said: “The reason for hosting this reoccurring event is to breath some new life and hopefully new visitors into Paragon Arcade. Hull is lucky to have a handful of the region’s best independent businesses operating under one roof – so why not make a fuss of it and a night for all to enjoy their offerings.
“The arcade tenants actively work together along with Allenby Commercial to create a welcoming and interesting vibe on the event evenings. By doing this, it’s gradually re-introducing existing and new visitors to Paragon Arcade to showcase what we have on offer there. The tenants are all passionate, like-minded, independent business owners who all support each other and create a really lovely family feel to the place.”
The free event takes place on Saturday from 5.30pm to 10.30pm.
